One of the most memorable 4 days of my life!!!
My best friend and I just got back from a 4 day Fall Cowboy Experience, where we rode horses all 4 days. We were paired with the most perfect horses for us! They could not have been more suitable for each of us. Tim, Susan and Wit were warmly welcoming and we felt like part of the family right from the start! Our accommodations at Cow Camp were extremely comfortable and our family style meals were such a treat to sit at the start and end of each day where we could share stories and laughs while enjoying homemade biscuits, and delicious “home cooked” meals!!! The dogs who worked along side of us were the cherry on top of our trip. They were sweet and amazing to watch in action with the cows. We are so fortunate to have found this working ranch and to have been able to join them. I will carry this experience with me forever!!!

Best Experience I’ve Had
What a great experience! I loved working with Susan and Tim as they went through their work days on the ranch. It was a dream come true for me. From riding fence lines, making repairs, riding a horse for hours, helping to sort cows, it was so interesting and fun. Susan and Tim are wonderful hosts and I enjoyed the family style meals. The accommodations were cozy and very welcoming. I’m going next year and every year I can manage. There is so much to learn.

Fantastic times at Steens Mountain Guest Ranch
I took part in their 5-day cowboy experience. I wanted to be included in a roundup and boy was I included in a roundup. Tim and Sue are excellent guests the horses were great, food was fantastic, and the work was very meaningful. It was apparent that our help as guess was very important to both Tim and Sue to help bring in the cattle during the fall roundup. If you're looking to participate in a real cowboy type experience this is by far the place to go. You can't go wrong visiting Sue and Tim.

A Magical Experience at Cow Camp
Cow Camp was unique and unparalleled in its opportunity to learn about and experience ranch work. The time spent in the beauty of the Steens, the fantastic horseback trail riding, the comfort, camaraderie, and the fun of living in the high country are absolutely like unlike anything else. A very small number of guests made the experience relaxed and family-like. We also sincerely appreciated the dedication to environmental considerations. Thank you one more time Tim, Susan and David for an unforgettable week. See you next year!

Wonderful way to view mustangs.
Only 3-day rides are coupled with accommodations at the Steens Mountain Guest Ranch, though we enjoyed meeting the proprietors and the guides from the Ranch. We took a half-day ride on well-trained horses through beautiful country and had an opportunity to watch wild mustangs at fairly close range for an extended period of time. The guides were knowledgeable and personable and extremely competent in matching riders to suitable horses. We especially enjoyed the companionship of the guides' dogs on our ride. This is by far the best way to view mustangs. Our guides were familiar with the individual horses in the herd we watched, and they could tell us about the social dynamics of the herd. Eating a long, leisurely lunch (prepared by Steens Mountain Guest Ranch) under trees while watching the herd graze not too far away was supremely relaxing. Afterwards we enjoyed a debriefing over a homemade blueberry smoothie at the Guest Ranch. Wonderful hosts. We would do this again in a heartbeat.
