Oregon Coast Aquarium's inaugural Flippers, Fins and Feathers 5k is a fun run\/walk that ends with running through the aquarium to the finish line. Participants need to arrive at the aquarium to check in, starting at 6:00 am.  A DJ will announce the start of the race at 7:00 am.  Finishers will receive a t-shirt, water bottle, refreshments and admission to the aquarium after the run.  Must be 12 years or older. Strollers may be used at your own discretion, knowing the course has uneven ground with some gravel. This run promotes a healthy lifestyle and also educates participants about the wildlife native to the Oregon coast.  Proceeds will contribute to the Oregon Coast Aquarium and its animal care.<\/p>\r\n

For a taste of the wide range of coastal scenery, try this loop that shows off Yaquina Bay, Coast Range foothills, the Siletz River Valley and Cape Foulweather. Start at Yaquina Head Lighthouse State Park and head through Newport to Toledo. Then follow the inland Siletz River Highway for some peaceful backroad scenery. Come back to Newport on Highway 101 on the Coast Bike Route, ascending a 400-foot climb of Cape Foulweather in a dedicated bike lane, enjoying legendary views to the ocean. Riding this route counter-clockwise avoids most headwinds and ends with the best ocean views. Total climbing is 1,950 feet.<\/p>\r\n
