The campground is nestled among shore pines and well protected from the strong ocean breezes. Besides three loops of campsites, the park boasts thirteen yurts, making year round camping a very popular choice. The horse camp features easy access to the beach and dunes for equestrian campers.

Well known for excellent fishing and crabbing opportunities on the Coquille River, the boat launch facilities are well-used during the summer and fall seasons.

From the registration booth in the campground, take a stroll on a meandering paved pathway to the beach (a little more than a mile). The path weaves through the open grassy fields and lowland forest across a plain to the sandy dunes. All along the path are views of the beautiful Coquille River, usually dotted with colorful boats and kayaks. Across the river is Bandon Marsh National Wildlife Refuge, sporting a variety of resident and migrating wildlife. Be sure to bring your binoculars!

The historic Coquille River Lighthouse is located at the end of the beach access road in the park. It's staffed from May thru October with park volunteers who interpret the history of the area and lead tours to the lantern room. From this point, there are 4.5 miles of open beach to explore. Bring your mountain bike to ride along the hard-packed sand along the edge of the surf or just enjoy a leisurely stroll on along the ocean shore. The park also has a 7-mile equestrian trail.

There's more nearby. Across the river is Bandon by the Sea. Visit a variety of shops, galleries and restaurants in the town that is called "The Cranberry Capital of the World" as well as the "The Storm Watching Capital of the World." Learn the legend of Face Rock and access miles of shoreline at our day use State Parks on Beach Loop Drive. For more information on the local area visit the Tourist Information Center in Old Town.

Vital stats: The park offers 90 full hookup campsites, 95 electrical sites (maximum site 64 feet); 13 yurts; a horse camp (8 sites, 4 single and 4 double corrals); a hiker/biker camp.

The Ni-les\u0019tun Unit Overlook is provided to give visitors the opportunity to view wildlife and changes in the habitat as the area is restored to intertidal marsh. This Unit was established to protect and restore intertidal marsh, freshwater marsh and riparian areas that are habitat for migratory birds and anadromous fish (e.g., salmon, steelhead, cutthroat trout).

It began in 1999 with the opening of Bandon Dunes. Designed by Scotsman David McLay Kidd, the course is perched on a bluff high above the Pacific Ocean. The course unfolds along pristine native dunes where expansive ocean views are revealed on nearly every hole. The course is completely natural and routed through an environment of indigenous vegetation. Beyond the breathtaking scenery lies the game of golf in its truest form. This is a thinker’s course. Winds are ever-present, and the varying elements create a new experience each time you play.

Designed by Tom Doak, Pacific Dunes opened in 2001. It is remarkably different in character and shot making requirements than our other courses. Pacific Dunes doesn't feel like it was built as much as it was discovered. Rippling fairways remain just as they were found and natural bunkers line the landscape as they have for centuries. The course emerges from shore pines to spectacular 60-foot sand dunes. When the wind blows, precise approach shots are a necessity. Pacific Dunes is short enough to give you hope, but rugged enough to test every facet of your game.

"Pacific Dunes...emerges as perhaps the last great meeting of sand and sea on American soil."
