A Weekend in Jacksonville
The entire town of Jacksonville is considered a National Historic Landmark, with roots dating back to the 1850s gold rush. From wineries to the Britt Festival to Segway tours and more, there is so much to see and do in this charming southern Oregon town.

Day One
Named for early Jacksonville settler Peter Britt, the Britt Fest is now in its 46th year. The summer-long outdoor festival attracts world-class musical talent. This month, festival-goers can see Brooks & Dunn, Lucinda Williams — even Willie Nelson, who hits the stage August 30.

Day Two
One great way to see Jacksonville’s historic attractions and scenic beauty is standing tall aboard a segway. Call ahead to make a reservation for a two-hour “Glide Through History” with Segway of Jacksonville. The “glide” takes you on a sightseeing tour that includes Victorian homes, gardens and the historic Jacksonville Cemetery. Group tours are available Wednesday thru Sunday. Call for private tours.

Day Three
Jacksonville is a gateway to Applegate Valley, an official wine-growing region of southern Oregon known for its Merlot, Cabernet sauvignon and Chardonnay, among other varieties. Take a tour of the region’s half-dozen wineries, including Valley View Winery, which has a beautiful tasting room just a short drive from Jacksonville, Troon Vineyard, a boutique winery in nearby in Grants Pass, Applegate Red Winery, which specializes in red wines, and others.
