My Travel Journal
The Goodman Creek Trail (#3461) is a moderate 4 mile hike. Laid out and constructed during a drought, Goodman Creek is now an example of what happens to a trail on shrink-swell clay when used during the wet season. Deep sloppy ruts that dry iron hard, widening mud bogs that linger well into the summer and trampling of soil-holding vegetation as people attempt to keep from slipping on slick, steep slopes or stepping ankle deep in mud. Come during hot summer days when the drainage is green, cool and inviting, but give it a rest during wet times.
