This historic palace of relaxation sits on the northern edge of central Salem -- Oregon's state capitol. The McMenamins brothers were among those fearless entrepreneurs who, in 1985, led the movement in Oregon to allow brewers the right to brew and consume in the same location. After a victorious fight at the state capitol, McMenamins opened the Hillsdale Brewery & Public House, Oregons first legal brewpub since Prohibition. Since then, Portland has become one of the nations premier destinations in the U.S. to enjoy handcrafted microbrews, including those of McMenamins Pubs & Breweries.
