The John Dellenback Trail is a paved trail that winds around Diamond Lake. It is designed for all types of bicycles and bike riding abilities. This 11 mile trail is not limited to bicycling only as hikers and Nordic skiers also use the trail. It follows easy grades with a maximum of 8%. The first one-half mile is managed as a barrier free trail and wheelchair use is encouraged. The path takes you through many unique places in the recreation area, with magnificent views of Mt. Bailey and Mt. Thielsen. Bicycle symbols painted on the pavement indicate the route through Diamond Lake Campground and Diamond Lake Resort. This trail is closed to all motorized use and horses due to conflicts between these users.

The trail features a Forest Service South Shore Picnic area with 23 group/individual picnic units, lighted pavilion, picnic tables, barbeque pits, horseshoe pits, volleyball court and playground. Cheese Hole is the deepest portion of the lake and a favorite hide-out of trophy sized rainbow trout. It is named for the favorite bait of still fishermen.
