Joseph H. Stewart State Recreation Area

Joseph Stewart and its campground overlook Lost Creek Reservoir, with wildlife, large conifer trees and mountains surrounding the park.

Take a hike or bike ride on our 8-mile trail system, through the forest with year-round streams and ample wildlife viewing. Take a swim in the cool mountain water. Rent a boat from the marina and troll the 10 mile lake for trout and bass ... an angler's dream. Or bring your own boat and water skis and spend a few days in the sun. Lost Creek Reservoir is stocked with trout and is accessible year-round.

The park is about 40 miles from Crater Lake National Park, and makes an excellent jumping-off point for an exploration of southern Oregon.

Vital stats: Open March - November. The campground features 151 electrical sites (maximum site 80 feet), 50 tent sites; and 2 group tent areas. The campground offers a volleyball area, hot showers, flush toilets and an RV dump station. Day-use facilities include a picnic area, kitchen shelters with gas stoves, and a horseshoe pit.

Joseph Stewart is a good choice for the camping, picnicking, fishing, boating and water skiing. In addition, the park offers group camping, biking, hiking and swimming.
