Portland Metro Arts & Culture

Portland offers up a mind-boggling array of culture that varies from traditional to bohemian. From sidewalk musicians to public art sculptures to First Thursday, the arts are an indelible part of the city’s soul. Downtown, take a stroll past more than 100 works of art, including Portlandia, the largest hammered copper sculpture since the Statue of Liberty, the Weather Machine (Pioneer Courthouse Square) and the eight-story-high murals of Lewis & Clark and the Oregon Trail (Oregon History Society). Or take in the exhibits at the Portland Art Museum, Pittock Mansion and End of the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center (Oregon City). Cap the night with a performance at the Oregon Symphony, the Portland Center for the Performing Arts or hang out with urban hipsters at the Doug Fir Lounge.
