Original members of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde have lived throughout the Willamette Valley, Southern Oregon, and the Coast, trading with tribes from as far as the ocean to the Cascade Mountains. They spoke their native language (Wawa), and managed their lands through traditional burning. Today, over 5,000 tribe members reside in Grand Ronde, and provide activities such as drum groups, dancing, arts and crafts within their reservation. Young tribal members are able to receive scholarships for participating in these programs. Treat yourself to an authentic Native American tradition by joining a powwow, rodeo, or indulging in a few games and a gourmet meal at Spirit Mountain Casino. You will learn more than you could ever imagine.
