Many call Hood River, just 45 minutes east of Portland, the windsurfing capital of the world- thanks to the incredible gorge winds that blow along the Columbia River. On an average breezy day, it's typical to see dozens of colorful sails dance across the wide river. Both windsurfing and kite boarding lessons and equipment are available in and around Hood River. Venture out for the day, or rent a house or condo and stay for a week (or longer).

Big Winds has the largest lesson and rental center in the Gorge. They have everything you need to get started on windsurfing or kiteboarding, and can help you improve your skills. They have a huge selection of high-performance rental and demo equipment, an outstanding Kids Camp, specialized womens' clinics, and the most knowledgeable staff around.

Brian's Windsurfing is nestled in the scenic Columbia River Gorge, in Hood River, Oregon. Brian's offers a large variety of lessons and packages, ranging from novice to advanced.

The Columbia Gorge Windsurfing Association was formed in 1987, and has since grown into one of the largest and most successful windsurfing associations in the United States. Choose from youth lessons and camps, exciting watersports events, and much more!
