With the warm weather and sunny skies come plenty of outdoor, family-fun events. In the northeast town of Elgin, the area's cowboy history is kept alive with the Elgin Stampede (July 9-12). And over in Jordan Valley there's an old-fashioned "ranch" rodeo called the Big Loop Rodeo (May 17-18) that features bronc riding in traditional saddles and team roping using big steers just off the ranch, among other events. Traditional cowboy artists, such as saddlemakers and rawhide braiders, come from all over the West to display and sell the equipment that is used by true cowboys who still make their living on the back of a horse.
