Wallowa Lake State Park

Wallowa Lake State Park is nestled in the heart of Eastern Oregon's Wallowa Mountains.

If you're interested in a campground surrounded on three sides by 9,000' tall snowcapped mountains and a large, clear lake, this is the area for you. The lake is a popular fishing and boating site. The park offers a marina with a reservable boat moorage. You can enjoy hiking wilderness trails and a 1-mile nature trail, horseback riding the equestrian trails, bumper boats, canoeing, miniature golf or ride a tramway to the top of one of the mountains (a rise of 4,000'). Wildlife is abundant in the area.

Visitors can rent one of the park's two wooden-sided yurts. Each of the circular, domed structures has a carpeted floor, lockable wooden door, lights, heating and beds. If you prefer something larger, rent the park's two-story, 900-square-foot cabin just outside the campground. Its six rooms can accommodate eight overnight guests.

There are gift shops nearby and a thriving artist community which does world-class bronze castings. Tours are available through the foundries and the showroom displays (they'll keep you interested for hours). Wallowa Lake also serves as a gateway to visit Hells Canyon, the deepest gorge in North America. There are activities for everyone in the family.

Vital stats: The campground provides 121 full hookup campsites, and 89 tent sites(maximum site 90 feet). In addition, the two yurts and the cabin are available for overnight stays. The day-use area and boat ramp open at 6 am. each day.

Wallowa Lake State Park provides opportunities for camping, yurt stays, cabin stays, boating, fishing, picnicking, swimming, hiking, horseback riding, viewing scenery, bird watching, viewing wildlife and enjoying nature.
