Eastern Oregon Attractions

Eastern Oregon is a virtual time machine to the past. Go back some 44 million years ago to the land of three-toed horses, saber-toothed tigers, prehistoric bear-dogs and giant pigs at the John Day Fossil Beds and the Thomas Condon Paleontology Center Museum, where fun, interactive exhibits will keep the kids mesmerized for hours. Stand in the ruts left by thousands of wagons headed west along the Oregon Trail and relive their journey at the National Historic Oregon Trail Interpretive Center and its impact on Native Americans at the Tamástslikt Cultural Institute. Be sure to tour the Pendleton Underground, infamous for its illegal saloons, bordellos and opium dens, and ride the Eagle Cap Excursion Train, which chugs through the wild & scenic Grande Ronde River to the base of the magnificent Wallowas.
