In its 21st year, the JELD-WEN Tradition is an official PGA TOUR event on the Champions Tour and is one of five Majors Championships played annually. The Tradition was founded by real estate developer Lyle Anderson in 1989 to honor the game’s great champions. The tournament awards each champion with the Lyle Anderson Trophy of which Jack Nicklaus is the only four time winner of this prized award. The defending champion is Fred Funk.
This year, the JELD-WEN Tradition, which will air on NBC TV and The Golf Channel, features a field of approximately 68 players and a $2.7 Million purse.
The JELD-WEN Tradition is held at the Sunriver Resort’s Crosswater Club. Crosswater is a semiprivate golf club, open to members and Sunriver resort guests only. Situated on 600 scenic acres of woodlands and carefully preserved wetlands, Crosswater is threaded by the gently flowing Deschutes and Little Deschutes rivers. Sunriver Resort offers 54 holes of unparalleled golf on three outstanding courses: Crosswater, a premier Robert E. Cupp 18-hole championship-design golf course; Sunriver Woodlands, a Robert Trent Jones, Jr. design; and Sunriver Meadows, a John Fought redesign. Crosswater was honored by Golf Digest as one of America’s 100 Greatest Golf Courses, and Sunriver Resort is recognized by Golf Magazine as a Gold Medal Resort.
